متن کاملA Brief and Preliminary Look at SNPs Data for some Bering-Chukchi- Beaufort Seas Bowhead Whales
We present preliminary analyses of 18 single nucleotide polymorphism markers (SNPs) for 106 bowhead whales from Barrow and St. Lawrence Island. We find no evidence for disequilibrium, population substructure, or genetic variation associated with temporal spacing of whales in the migration. Introduction We present here a preliminary examination of a small dataset of single nucleotide polymorphis...
متن کاملConnrmation, Revision, and Sensitivity Analysis of the 1994 Scientiic Committee Assessment of the Bering-chukchi-beaufort Seas Stock of Bowhead Whales
Results from the approximate reweighting method used by the Scientiic Committee for its 1994 assessment of the Bering-Chukchi-Beaufort Seas stock of bowhead whales are connrmed using the full Bayesian synthesis approach. Sensitivity trials are examined to investigate several areas of interest identiied during this assessment. The results show that the full analysis gives results which are very ...

متن کاملImplementing the Current Management Regime for Aboriginal Subsistence Whaling to Establish a Catch Limit for the Bering-Chukchi-Beaufort Seas Stock of Bowhead Whales
We quantify the existing Aboriginal Management Scheme for subsistence whaling, which can be implemented for the Bering-Chukchi-Beaufort Seas stock of bowhead whales using the Bayesian synthesis assessment method. The catch limit given by this implementation meets our quantiication of aboriginal management objectives established by the Commission, and results from a direct implementation of the ...
